People have mistaken your stillness for emptiness. Your harmony for spinelessness. They’ve made the decision without you, or talked over you, or assumed you didn’t have a strong opinion. And you’ve let them, because keeping the peace felt more important than proving you had one. This is the Enneagram Type 9 at their most exhausted. This is the Enneagram Type 9 at their most exhausted.
But no one talks about what that costs. The quiet exhaustion of holding space for everyone else while having no idea what you actually want. The pull toward just disappearing. Being alone. Doing your own thing, without anyone needing something from you for once.
I feel like everyone wants something from me. And the thing I want most is just to be left alone.
That’s not selfishness. That’s someone who has been disappearing for a long time. Let me show you why.
You see all sides. Genuinely. When people are in conflict, you can feel both of them: their logic, their pain, their need to be heard. That makes it nearly impossible to take sides, even when people want you to.
You have a gift for making people feel included. No one feels left out when you’re around. You know how to adjust your energy, move between groups, bring people together.
But you’ve also probably struggled to know what you want. Not what everyone else needs. What YOU actually want. And when you do know, saying it out loud feels like it takes more courage than it should. Because somewhere along the way you learned that your preferences are the ones that get set aside. And over time, you stopped checking what they were.
Your Soul Desire is a world of true peace, not the absence of conflict, but the kind of deep inclusion where everyone has a place and different voices can actually harmonise.
Your Existential Fear is being the source of disruption. Becoming arrogant, dominant, or separate from others. Being the one who breaks what was whole.
So your Superpower, the ability to see how different perspectives can benefit and complement each other, starts running on disappearance.
When fear drives it, you stop weaving perspectives together and start erasing your own. You merge with whoever is in front of you. You adopt the group’s agenda. You go along not because you’ve decided to but because deciding feels like a risk you’re not sure you can afford. You keep the peace by removing yourself from it. And in doing so, the peace becomes less real, because you’re not actually in it.
This is the Misused Superpower. Not passivity. Not weakness. Your extraordinary capacity for inclusion trying to keep connection alive by taking up no space.
And it works, in a way. Everyone stays. But you’re exhausted. And you’re not really there.
The shift is not about learning to argue or start conflict. That’s not what peace needs from you.
It’s about understanding that your presence, your actual voice and opinion and desire, is not a threat to harmony. It’s what harmony has been missing.
Your Wisdom is learning to show up fully, in your truth, without disappearing into the background. Not to dominate. Not to take over. Just to be actually present, so that the peace you create includes you in it.
When you trust that you can have a strong opinion and still be someone who holds things together, you stop having to choose between yourself and the people you love.
When an Enneagram Type 9 moves into their Wisdom, they become one of the most powerful people in any room. Not because they take up the most space. Because the space they hold is finally real.
The harmony you create stops feeling like management and starts feeling like genuine connection. Because you’re in it. Your perspective is there. And people don’t just feel included, they feel met.
The exhaustion lifts. Not because people want less from you. Because you’re no longer giving from depletion.
The peace you’ve been offering everyone else? It finally includes you.
If this resonated, you might recognise someone close to you in one of the other types: Enneagram Type 1, Enneagram Type 2, Enneagram Type 3. Or read more about what the Enneagram of Personality is and how it works.
This session should cost over 100€. I’m confident enough in what we can do together in 60 minutes that I’d stake that on it.
But you don’t know me yet. And the coaching world has made it hard to know who to trust.
So here’s my offer: 30€. One session. Let me show you what the Enneagram actually does when it’s used properly. If it doesn’t shift something real for you, then you lost 30€ and a lunch. If it does, and I believe it will, you’ll know exactly what to do next.
Dare to take my hand?
