You saw it coming. You raised the concern. You asked the question no one else was asking. And people rolled their eyes, told you to relax, said you were overthinking it. Then sometimes you were right. And sometimes you weren’t. But you still couldn’t stop scanning. This is the Enneagram Type 6 in their most honest moment. This is the Enneagram Type 6 in their most honest moment.
And the hardest part is this. Things can actually be going well. And you’re still bracing. Still tracking. Still waiting for the thing that breaks it.
Everything is good. And I’m already preparing for it to fall apart.
You’re not imagining it. That pull is real. And it has a source specific to the Enneagram Type 6. Let me show you what it is.
You think ahead. You run the scenarios. You notice the inconsistencies, the things that don’t quite add up, the person who said one thing and did another. You prepare for what could go wrong because you’d rather be ready than be caught off guard.
You’re loyal. Deeply loyal. Once you trust someone, you’re all in. But trust takes time, and you’re watching carefully while it builds.
You’ve probably also experienced the exhaustion of it. The mental load of tracking everything. The hypervigilance that makes it hard to fully relax even when nothing is wrong. Even when things are genuinely good. Even then, the scanner doesn’t switch off. And some part of you can’t understand why.
Your Soul Desire is a world of trustworthy, safe, committed community, where people have each other’s backs and no one is left to face life alone.
Your Existential Fear is being without support. Being betrayed. Being left out in the open with no one there when it matters most.
So your Superpower, the ability to read group dynamics clearly and see what’s really going on beneath the surface, starts running on worst-case scenarios.
When fear drives it, you stop reading dynamics in order to strengthen community and start scanning for threats in order to survive them. You project danger onto situations that may actually be safe. You test loyalty because you can’t quite believe it’s real. You create problems in your mind that may not exist. And sometimes, in doing so, you create the very instability you were trying to prevent.
This is the Misused Superpower. Not paranoia. Not weakness. Your extraordinary social intelligence trying to protect something it doesn’t yet trust is safe.
The shift doesn’t come from turning off the scanner. You probably can’t, and you don’t need to.
It comes from learning to trust your own inner compass first. Before you look to the group for safety signals, before you check whether everyone is still there, learn to find the ground inside yourself.
Your Wisdom is being able to say: I can see the risk. I can feel the uncertainty. And I’m still here. I’m still choosing this. Not because it’s guaranteed, but because I trust myself to handle whatever comes.
When you lead with your own inner stability, everything changes. The loyalty you’ve been testing for starts flowing more naturally. Because you’re no longer asking people to carry your security for you. You bring it yourself. And from that place, you become one of the most reliably grounding people in any group.
When an Enneagram Type 6 moves into their Wisdom, they stop being the person who worries about the group and start being the person who actually holds it together.
Your read of group dynamics is real. Your loyalty is real. Your ability to see what others miss is real. When it’s no longer running on fear, it becomes leadership.
People feel safer around you. Not because you’ve stopped watching. Because the watching is now in service of them, not in service of your fear. And the feeling you’ve been carrying, that even good things feel precarious, starts to shift. Not because life becomes more predictable. Because you stop needing it to be. You have your own ground to stand on. And from there, things can actually be good. And you can actually feel it.
If this resonated, you might recognise someone close to you in one of the other types: Enneagram Type 1, Enneagram Type 2, Enneagram Type 3. Or read more about what the Enneagram of Personality is and how it works.
This session should cost over 100€. I’m confident enough in what we can do together in 60 minutes that I’d stake that on it.
But you don’t know me yet. And the coaching world has made it hard to know who to trust.
So here’s my offer: 30€. One session. Let me show you what the Enneagram actually does when it’s used properly. If it doesn’t shift something real for you, then you lost 30€ and a lunch. If it does, and I believe it will, you’ll know exactly what to do next.
